Fact Sheet
Based on the ancient Indian spiritual philosophy, Tantra is an
intimate restaurant/lounge designed to awaken all of the senses.
With seating for 110, Tantra is a sensual experience where guests
are surrounded by a variety of stimuli.
At the entrance of the restaurant is a softly lit marble waterwall
and fresh grass paves your way to the restaurant's lounge area,
replete with a fiber-optic starscape. Sleek ultra-suede banquettes
and sunset hued silk line the perimeter of the dining room; two
pressed-copper and mahogany bars, house speciality cocktails,
liqueurs and wines.
A mahogany finished DJ booth, with a state-of-the-art sound system,
lends itself to steamy dancing while a veritable fortune of
authentic Indian sculptures watch over guests and ever-burning
incense fills the air. The infamous private VIP room has plush
couches and an overhead hammock filled with a nest of billowy
pillows, perfect for taking a respite from all the excitement down
below.
Tantra's eclectic and ever-changing menu focuses on international
aphrodisiac cuisine; fresh ingredients imported from around the
world give way to an innovative mix of the sensual, theatrical and
the familiar.
Flavors and textures span the globe and each dish is created with
aphrodisiac elements. In tune with the Tantric diet of lighter fare,
poaching, grilling and roasting replaces frying, while broth's,
fumes and emulsions replace heavy cream sauces. Appetizers range in
price from $12 - $34, entrees from $30 - $46. Nationally considered
one of South Beach's hottest culinary and nightlife destinations.
Tantra is also one of the area's premier celebrity haunts, drawing

TANTRA RESTAURANT & LOUNGE
SOUTH FLORIDA'S MECCA FOR FINE DINING
Since its opening in December 1997, South Beach's Tantra Restaurant
& Lounge has undisputedly become South Florida's hottest restaurant.
It's packed during the weekend and always standing room only on the
weekends. Its tantalizing blend of critically acclaimed aphrodisiac
cuisine and exotic design has made Tantra the place to dine on the
beach.
Owner Tim Hogle has created an environment akin to a never-ending
dinner party, a place where people watching is part of the
experience and as the night grows late, diners turn to dancers and
tabletops turn to dance floors.
Leonardo DiCaprio rang in 1998 with a group of friends when the
restaurant was only 2 weeks old. Sylvester Stallone, a big fan of
the restaurant, visited the restaurant twice in one week, enjoying
pan seared Atlantic yellowtail tuna while wife Jennifer Flavin
feasted on ginger-kissed salmon. Ben Stiller celebrated Valentine's
Day there. Super stars Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes dined and
partied at Tantra with mutual friend, reggae superstar Richard
Marley, all in town for Miami's reggae festival. Robert De Niro,
while in town working on a restaurant deal, visited Tantra several
times, checking out the "competition."
Supermodel Nicki Taylor declared she was, "having the most amazing
time ever," as she danced in the VIP room's overhead net. In tune
with her spiritual awakening, Madonna enjoyed a Friday night dinner
with friends, praising the salmon. Former Eagles guitarist Glenn
Frey dined at Tantra three nights in a row, while in town. Hollywood
icons Michael Douglas, Oliver Stone, Will Smith, Brian De Palma,
Jennifer Lopez, Al Pacino, rock stars Courtney Love, Sarah McLachlan,
Lenny Kravitz, Madonna, Sugar ray, and sports stars Martina
Navratilova, Dennis Rodman, Mario Andretti, Pele, Tim Hardaway,
Boris Becker, Miami Heat coach Pat Reilly and Alonzo Mourning have
all enjoyed an arousing experience at Tantra.
Fueling the mad rush for tables is the blend of Tantra's sensual and
inviting dcor with the restaurant's renowned international
aphrodisiac cuisine. Everything from the softly-lit marble waterwall
at the front entrance to the fresh cut grass beneath your feet,
sleek ultra suede banquettes, a frolic friendly net in the infamous
VIP room, pressed-copper and mahogany bars, a steamy DJ booth where
sensual tunes spin nightly, Middle Eastern hookah pipes with
Egyptian tobacco and the fiber-optic starscape, has been designed to
awaken each of the five senses.
The food at Tantra is as dazzling as the dcor. The unique menu,
designed by owner Tim Hogle, offers even the most discriminating
diner a chance to achieve culinary ecstasy. Tantralizing dishes
include ginger-kissed salmon, consisting of black Thai rice topped
with bok choy, shitake mushrooms, and a soy sake glaze, the Tantra
Love Apple, a sliced Homestead tomato layered with Laura Chenel and
Cypress Grove Bermuda Triangle goat cheeses and a basil oil. The
signature Tantra Plate - a sumptuous array of pacific oysters, a
large stone crab claw, jumbo shrimp and succulent sweet soy
barbecued eel.
An extensive wine list, which has been lauded by Wine Enthusiast
magazine, Tantra's speciality cocktails and signature aphrodisiac
shot a dizzying combination of rum, vodka, peach schnapps and
Tantra's signature blend of powdered aphrodisiac herbs round out
the menu. Nationally acclaimed, Tantra has garnered rave reviews and

TANTRA RESTAURANT & LOUNGE
OWNER DR. TIMOTHY HOGLE
An early South Beach pioneer, Dr. Timothy Hogle has been
instrumental in South Beach's resurgence as one of the nation's
brightest dining destinations. In 1986, he created what became the
Beach's first sushi restaurant, Toni's Sushi. But, oddly enough,
Hogle didn't start his career on South Beach as a restaurateur. His
dental practice has attracted top celebrities and models as
patients, giving Hogle the nickname of "dentist to the stars."
In 1996, Hogle launched Tantra Productions, a Miami Beach-based
post-production studio. A year later, Hogle developed a restaurant
concept based on the ancient Indian philosophy of spiritual
realization through heightening the senses. The result? Tantra
Restaurant & Lounge. Hogle, who has been practicing meditation for
over 25 years, wanted to create an environment that stimulated the
five senses. After months of intensive research, he developed an
aphrodisiac menu with flavors spanning the globe and designed the
restaurant to create the perfect Tantric ambience, which includes
fresh cut grass on the floors, a soothing indoor waterfall,
fiber-optic starlight and vanilla-scented candles. He even imported
a veritable fortune of authentic Tantric art. Since it's opening in
December 1997, Tantra has become South Beach's hottest dining and
entertainment destination, attracting celebrities, locals and
visitors.
Tantra Productions has an impressive client list including Loreal,
AT&T, Telemundo Network, MTV, Pepsi, Gatorade, Toyota, Univision,
The Box and Johnson & Johnson, among others.
Hogle, a resident of Miami Beach, divides his time between his
dental practice and Tantra. When he's not working, he enjoys
wakeboarding, snowboarding, meditating and traveling. He's currently
enjoying his newest venture: Goddess, a recently opened Miami Beach
nightclub that shares Tantra's spiritual theme.
